Gold and silver from 2023 European Championship

Ondrej Havlicek has achieved a historical first silver medal for the Czech Taekwondo national team in the senior category at the 2023 European Championship at Innsbruck, Austria. Lenka Simeckova defended her title of champion and brought home a gold medal in the Para category.

Czech Champions in Poomsae: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024

The Sejong Taekwondo team once again confirmed its dominance at the 2024 Czech Republic Championship, winning the title of Czech Champions in Poomsae. Our members achieved 10 Czech champion titles, 5 runner-up titles, and 9 second runner-up titles. Thanks to these achievements, Sejong Taekwondo not only became the most successful team of the championship but also defended its position at the top of Czech taekwondo.

Sejong Taekwondo – a club with more than 28 years of history

Sejong Taekwondo is one of the oldest taekwondo clubs in Prague – a club with more than twenty-eight years of history. The team is led by accomplished coaches with many years of experience, members of the national team and multiple national champions. Trainings in our club is suitable for all generations – children and adults alike. Our goal is not only to raise great athletes, but above all to help educatethe youth in the sense of proper use of free time with a focus on sports, being team player, discipline and other qualities needed for the self-development.

Taekwondo – a Korean martial art and an olympic sport

Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art and a modern Olympic sport. Taekwondo is not only a self-defense martial art which focuses on physical abilities and skills, but is primarily used for the development one’s own character, self-control, self-confidence and self-discipline. It also helps to harmonize the mind and the body. Taekwondo is much more than just a way of fighting. It is a way of life, a path of self-discovery and self-improvement.

Participation in domestic and international competitions

Members of our club regularly participate in many domestic and international competitions. Many Sejong Taekwondo members are national champions and some of them successfully represent the Czech Republic at the highest international competitions such as European Championships and World Championships. Some of the biggest successes of our club are gold medals from G-1 tournaments, gold from the prestigious tournament KOREA OPEN 2017, silver from WORLD TAEKWONDO HANMADANG 2015, or bronze from the European Championships 2015.

A club with many awards

The Sejong Takekwondo section has received many international recognitions and awards, such as the Award for Service and Contribution to the Development of Taekwondo (WTF), Award for Outstanding Contribution to Czech-Korean Relations (CKS), Award for efforts in the development and propagation of taekwondo (Kukkiwon) or Award for dedicated service and contribution to the development of taekwondo (Korea Taekwondo Association).
